Echostar 400, Tracker Elite & Houston 20 Tracker satellite Receiver

These three receivers work the same, the only difference between them is the wording in the menus. The menus are setup the same and should have very similar remotes.

The remote has a SELECT button between the up/down and left/right arrows.

1.) Go to a satellite that has the same polarity (or format) that is near the satellite to be programmed.

  1. Press the MENU button once. This will display the Tuning Mode menu.

If it will not enter the Tuning mode menu. Then proceed to step 23.

2      Video Tuning
3      Audio Select
4      Polarity Tuning

   Use 1-4 or , then select

3.) Press number 1 or use the arrows to select 1 then press SELECT.

4.) This will display:

, Move East, West
SELECT to peak dish

5.) Start tapping the left (east) or right (west) arrow until a picture comes in. If it is not correct, continue tapping until another picture appears. If the picture is correct, then write down the dish position number and press VIEW.

6.) Press the MENU button twice. This will display the Advanced Features menu.

7.) Press number 1 which should be Sat Options. This should display the Sat Options menu.

8.) Press number 1 again for Store Positions. This should display a list of satellites. Use the up/down arrows to move the arrow beside a satellite that is not stored or one that you don’t use.

9.) Press the SELECT button until the programming menu comes up

**NOTE: You may have to press SELECT several times before it will work. And, will probably display "Sat ? already installed" when doing so. Just keep pressing select until the menu below comes up.**

10.) Once this menu is up, verify that the channel is still correct. If not, use the channel up/down buttons to change channel to an active channel. Verify that the dish position is correct. If not move east/west until it is on the correct position. Press the SELECT button. It should display "Sat ? has been installed". If this is displayed then this means it is stored. Press the VIEW button.

-Verify that everything is stored correctly then close the call. If not, attempt it again using the same satellite name or a different name.

-If the dish position was stored correctly and there is no picture, then proceed

with step 11.

11.) Press the MENU button once. This will display the Tuning Mode menu.

12.) Press number 4 for polarity tuning or use the arrows to select 4 then press SELECT. If there is not a line number 4 then go to step 22.

13.) This will display:

Use , to adjust
SELECT to Peak Polarity

14.) Press the SELECT button to autopeak the Polarity. This should bring a picture in. If a picture does come in the proceed to step 16.

15.) If a picture does not come in or it does not autopeak at all, then try tapping the right arrow until a picture does appear, if there is still no picture then proceed to step 1 and try again or close the call.

16.) Press the VIEW

17.) Press the MENU button twice. This will display the Advanced Features menu.

18.) Press number 1 which should be Sat Options. This should display the Sat Options menu.

19.) Press number 1 again for Store Positions. This should display a list of satellites. Use the up/down arrows to move the arrow beside the satellite that was used previously.

20.) Press the SELECT button until the programming menu comes up

**NOTE: You may have to press SELECT several times before it will work. And, will probably display "Sat ? already installed" when doing so. Just keep pressing select until the menu below comes up.**

21.)Once this menu is up press the SELECT button again. It should display "Sat ? has been installed". If this is displayed then this means it should have stored the polarity.

-Press the VIEW button.

-Verify that everything is stored correctly then close the call. If not, attempt it again.

22.) ** This step is to change the feed type**

-Press MENU twice to display the Advanced Functions menu. Press number 4 to display the Installation menu.

-Number 1 should be Feed Type and there will be approximately five different options that it will rotate through when number 1 is pressed. Continue to press the number 1 until it displays "Single C" beside Feed Type. Verify that number 2 displays Polarizer "Rotor".

If it does not, press the number 2 until "Rotor" is displayed beside line number 2.

-Press VIEW to exit the menus and return to step 12.

23.) **This step is to unlock the Tuning or Advanced Features menus.**

-Press the MENU button twice to display the Advanced Features menu. Press number 2 to display the System Locks menu. If it asks for a password, then enter 8472.

This will display:

2/7 System Lock

1 Adv Features: Lock/Unlock
           2 Lock:    not set in/ on sat/
                           on chan/ view mode
           3 Change Password
           4 Erase Password

-Press number 1, then press the SELECT button until it displays "Unlock" beside line number 1. Next, press number 2, then press SELECT until "not set in" is displayed beside line number 2. Now press VIEW to exit the menus and return to step 2.
